Stefan Schröder's practice focuses on the legal issues in the energy sector. He advises clients in relation to energy regulatory law, energy trading and supply law, emissions trading as well as in relation to renewable energies. Stefan represents clients in court and arbitral proceedings and is frequently involved in M&A-transactions and international projects in the energy sector. He also advises on the regulatory regime for other regulated network infrastructures. 

Stefan frequently represents energy companies in front of the regulatory authorities (incl. representation in abusive practices proceedings), in complaint proceedings against decisions and regulations of the German Federal Network Agency as well as in appeal proceedings before the German Federal Court of Justice. He also advises energy companies in civil law disputes (e.g. price review proceedings) incl. representation before ordinary courts and in arbitration.

Stefan supports clients in the context of the negotiation and conclusion of trading und supply contracts as well as on compliance with REMIT. He has  significant experience in relation to the legal regime for renewable energies, including the drafting and negotiation of direct marketing agreements, PPAs and the development of new trading products. He often provides energy law advice in the context of M&A-transactions and international projects in the energy sector. He also advises clients in relation to the EU emissions trading regime as well as the German fuel emissions trading regime.

Stefan has a leading role in Hogan Lovells' Hydrogen Initiative H2L and advises clients on the regulatory regime for hydrogen infrastructure. 

Besides his focus on the energy sector, Stefan also advises clients in relation to other network infrastructures regulated by the German Federal Network Agency. He has experience in relation to the regulation of the railway sector, telecommunications regulation as well as the regulation of the postal sector.
