Politics in Play: Corporate and Association Political Activity in the Age of the Super PAC

With the elections just around the corner, it has never been more important for corporations and associations to understand the rules governing political activity. And, in the era of Citizens United, and related cases, the landscape is more complicated than ever. During this webinar, we will discuss the latest developments in the election laws applicable to corporations and associations. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United and the creation of the so-called super PAC, there are more opportunities for political involvement than ever, but strict rules remain very much in effect. Corporations and associations now have multiple options for political engagement, including utilizing traditional separate segregated funds (PACs), making independent expenditures, and contributing to super PACs, including 527 and 501(c)(4) organizations. We will address the legal, as well as the practical, ramifications of these political activities and the rules that govern them. We also will advise on what you need to know when reviewing solicitations from political committees.
