Sachin S. Desai assists clients in the nuclear industry and throughout the energy sector. He brings with him a unique set of skills in law, business, and engineering.
Sachin practices nuclear and radioactive materials law involving the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the U.S. Department of Energy, and state and international counterparts. He is well-versed in administrative, energy, and environmental law, and served in law school as the editor in chief of the Harvard Environmental Law Review.
He routinely writes on cutting-edge legal topics in the nuclear regulatory arena, including foreign ownership of, and investment into, U.S. nuclear power plants, advancements in nuclear decommissioning, and licensing of advanced reactors. Sachin also helps spearhead the Hogan Lovells legal blog focused on next-generation nuclear reactors: HL New Nuclear.
Sachin complements his legal experience with a practical understanding of the energy industry. Before law school, Sachin was a strategy consultant assisting companies in heavily regulated industries. He holds a Masters of Engineering degree, worked as a Henry Luce Scholar at a research lab in Taiwan, and has published multiple technical research papers.
He comes to the firm from the NRC, where he served as a judicial law clerk with the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel. Prior to working at the NRC, Sachin clerked for the Honorable Judge Marian Blank Horn at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
